You're right to point that out but if I were a Christian, I would write that off to myself as Jesus and the Apostles condescending to the people of their time by letting harmless myths remain untouched.

That's why I went a step further. Even if you can make that compromise, Genesis itself is an incoherent book unless it's taken as a literal history from beginning to end. It's **also** an allegory, meant to be understood as a prototype for later events, but the genealogies bind it to literal history. It's meant to be both.

But it can't be, because we have archeological finds older than the creation of the universe if that's true.

The only possible resolution is a rejection of Genesis, and everything built on it, as anything more than an interesting piece of mythology.
