I bounced of Balatro about three times previously. I don’t get, or enjoy poker at all. It was free on Apple Arcade, so no great loss. But after the Game Awards, it made me want to get what all the fuss was about.
My wife showed me how to start scoring well enough to get the ball rolling, and holy shit, that game goes from 0-100, FAST.
Before long, she was running the table game and I was min-maxing the meta game.
I went from curious indifference to buying a physical copy in about an hour.
