You can do what you want. It is an open protocol and nobody is in charge. But I would prefer if you at least use a new event kind so I can more easily avoid content I don't want.
Otherwise I will have to mute senders of such messages or block certain relays, which is a much less fine-graned approach than I would prefer to take.
The day my client automatically downloads and displays CP, believe me, I will burn the computer.
Some of us prefer "more text than visual". The gossip client does not fetch/embed links or images. They are shown as links. Users can choose if they want to click and send the request to their browser to handle.
