Capitalism apologists like to claim that the selfish gorging behavior of the powerful is human nature and the police state is necessary because there's no natural check on Man's natural aggression.
Except there is, it's called empathy. But some knuckleheads a long time ago decided that being aware of and responsive to emotions was weak sauce beta shit because it's way easier to raise an army when everyone's busting with pent up feels.
