I agree with Daniel mostly. The one issue I would call out - because we have this problem in the Rails community - is if the community doesn’t own or have an unrestricted license to all of the IP, then creating a fork isn’t really possible.
Could someone fork cURL to fire the BDFL and use a similar name or logo without the risk of Daniel exercising his IP rights?
