Today, a wild adventure in "season to taste".

Made a big pot of vegetable broth. Usual plan is to taste broth and season/adjust before throwing in noodles.

Broth was super flat. Needed adjustment. Acid and sweet, but more acid than sweet.

Looked at balsamic vinegar bottle, but it ain't cheap. Then got wild idea.

There's a big jar of shrub (sweetened cheap vinegar w/fruit & herbs) in the liquor cabinet. Fruit is pears, spices are lemon thyme and lemon balm.

*glug*glug*glug*stir*
