Often with these cutesy ARPGs, I don't expect much. Really, I'm just looking to go on a cozy little quest. That's all I ask from games like this.
Instead, what I got was one of the best controls I've ever experienced for an RPG. I was able to play this entire game with just the keyboard and it felt so natural. Or if I want to supplement it with a mouse, I could. Every which way, this great.
The graphics are "casual". But they're also well done too. The art direction and use of colours was perfect (or is that purr-fect?). In terms of environments and character models, I can't ask for anything better.
At the end of the day, this is a game about pets adventurers. While it is cutesy, it delivers on wonder and whimsy. Cat Quest II never takes itself too seriously, but it also makes you cheer for your little critters.
This is an easy game to recommend -- especially if you love furry friends.
