I do most of my solitary fishing near home. Sometimes I run out to a bluegill pond or local lake for a few hours; someplace where I may well run into someone I know and that's usually OK. It's usually OK if we end up fishing together for the afternoon then meet somewhere for supper. In the long run, fishermen are better company than most. If nothing else, most of them don't feel obliged to fill up normal moments of silence with meaningless chatter.
