would you say you've noticed that both dumb and smart people are less likely to have "counterproductive ideas"?
I think they target the largest group that exists and find the best propaganda to feed them
I don't think it requires intelligence, I think it requires people to be different and unique
something else I've noticed is over the decades people are asked to act the same, have the same opinions, believe the same things
uniqueness is considered a moral failing
and is progressively getting eroded
I worked for a marketing consulting company for a while and they delineate people based on "segments" of the population. the less segments you have, the easier it is to deliver a message. the more segments there are, the harder it is to brainwash everyone into self-limiting, counter-productive ideas and squash everyone down
and squashing people down is very much in the interest of those who view you as competition ;)
