There's also tons of general theory on this issue in general, most of it not at all informed by anyone who've ever been seriously involved in activism. Most of it are strong opinions with some random statistics stacked on top. Look for things written by people who either have bitter experiences of defeat or for sociologists who study those movements that won.

As for your initial question. Are there any examples of movements that lost because they've been too disruptive? Possibly the urban guerillas of Western Europe in 70s/80s, but there's also examples of some very successful actions from those groups.
