Toby Young demonstrates that he is too thick to understand a law which has been on the statutes for over 50 years, and which even had a mainstream film made about it.

It's always been "Equal pay for work of equal value." The whole point of the Ford Dagenham case was that the women machinists making the seat covers were doing work of equal value to the men in the paint shop - both groups similarly skilled, without whose labour there wouldn't have been an end product.

There have been plenty of cases since then - e.g. the cleaners/ bin men case in Birmingham (they were on the same pay scale, but the men were eligible for bonuses and the women weren't).

This is not new. Toby Young is an idiot. And ill-informed.
