I used to live in an area where the tap water was polluted and gross. The line to buy purified water in 5 gallon jugs was always pretty long.
Today I live in a place where the tap water is delicious and clean. I was at the store and walked by the purified water dispenser and there was no line
It really shows how a common good produces value without showing up in measures like GDP. We're still buying that water from a utility, so it'll be measured at 1¢ a gallon instead of $1 per gallon.
