Saw a really clever idea to make a 24 speed #bicycle today. Instead of chain rings in the front, put an 8-speed cassette on a 3-speed rear hub.
Obvious issues: higher replacement cost for the hub vs chain rings, higher weight.
Obvious benefits: chain doesn’t hop off when shifting rings, and works incredibly for #foldingbike .
