The tragedy of such a piece of work would be that Lucier was (in my reading) attempting to manifest the acoustic resonance of the room itself by using the iterative depredations of tape recording to flatten out meaning from his voice. Doing this with generative AI would reveal something, but it won’t be as prosaic, I’m certain.
