Most ghosts are pretty self-content. They come and go, they don't mind a day / century of just observing the world go by. Providing a welcome home for them is nice, but don't take it personally if they don't make it known to you that they are settled in.
You can't ever get rid of all the ghosts, but the worst ones can be banished and the rest can just kind of hang out and take care of themselves.
