I've checked the top 10 books of the XXI century (of the list of 100) published by The New York Times, and unsurprisingly, it's a very English centred list.
It's essentially hard to believe (or directly, impossible to believe) that 5 out of the best 10 books of the XXI century are from the US, 3 from the UK and 2 from the "rest of the world".
The list was created from a survey of more than 500 experts. I guess most of them are from the UK or the US, and this basically proves how difficult it is to transcend your cultural heritage when evaluating art.
