Indeed, the top 1% richest people produce as much CO2 as the bottom 50%, so starting at the top is the only way to go.

And yes, if we were to hit these targets, population would have to dramatically decrease voluntarily. That won't happen.

My actual prediction as to what will happen is this: we'll keep burning fossil fuels, though they will peak around 2030 and then slowly decline.
