Hmmm carnivore diet seems to be winning. Have always been pretty carnivore anyway (apart from 1 year of vegetarianism after accidentally ending up in an open air meat market in Delhi) but been really messing with stuff post covid. When I got sick, went full blast on Ivermectin and vit D protocol and worked from what I could see. Most of my friends screwed up for a week, I had 1 night of excruciating pain in my eyes and a heavy fever but back in gym next day. I thought all good and then 1 week later, started losing energy around 1pm and started napping. Force loss in the gym was dramatic until after a couple of months, I couldn't even knock out 2 sets of 25kg bench press.
My journey in case anyone curious - Tried Nattokinase and other enzymes and vitamins and supplements including NAC and all the bollox. No effect. Tried simple cleanse taking chelators and zeolites, no effect. Started various changes to diet with no real effect either. Bear in mind have NEVER had much sugar in diet since a kid and never liked nor ate processed foods anyhow so diet was theoretically good.
So finally, around 3 months ago, did 4 day water fast (might not seem much but high metabolism so the weight loss freaked me out a bit. Have friends locally doing 20 days and they agreed I should not try pushing it. Was quite dramatic and went from 33in waist to 28 in 4 days!).
I broke fast into a carnivore diet and only eating at home. Although have never used seed oils in my life, I cannot guarantee what is used in restaurants. Finally back to full 1 hour in the gym with energy to spare and nudging up the weight. Yesterday got back to 50kg press with 8 reps as my final set.
Anecdotally, it made big changes for me and I also think that whatever causes long covid (read lots, still seems to be a little confused mechanism), if it is a question of build up of toxic proteins, it seems possible that the fasting is a good approach if affected.
Hope that helps anyone with things to try if you have suffered what I went through. I kinda feel like I lost a year, but certainly interesting to go through so much different self experimentation and take that learning going forwards.
Final note to this. Been trying to vary liver consumption to see if I could actually qualify a physical difference. I literally feel more strength and am able to lift more. I tried alternating weeks of zero live, half a kilo in a week, and 1kg. I will make a 1kg consumption per week of liver my standard goal, the effect is simply too profound to not want to.
