"content": "American librarian Herbert Putnam died #OTD in 1955.\n\nPutnam's career in library administration began when he became the librarian of the Minneapolis Athenaeum in 1884. His success in Minneapolis led to his appointment as the librarian of the Boston Public Library in 1895.
