The US founders intended for Congress to be the supreme branch but the vaguely defined powers of the president and SCOTUS combined with the dysfunctional nature of Congress and its tendency to punt on hard problems has caused the portfolio of the other two branches to steadily expand over time. The Imperial Presidency, the Activist Court, and the drift toward authoritarianism are consequences of white supremacy and a malfunctioning federalist system that has endless veto points baked in.
