These are not new cases being brought against the #Catholic church.
They are, in fact, even-older cases. They pushed the statute of limitations back, so that more cases can be brought. Lots of these people (including most of the accused and many victims) are long dead, as the cases go all the way back to the 1940s. They also do not only involve priests, or even only men or the celibate, as they sued people into the 3rd degree of separation.
No excuses, but let's not act like there's been some new outbreak of sexual abuse, just because it gives you an opportunity to dump on people you don't like.
