god, i hated how my dad handled my adult ADHD/ASD diagnoses. anytime i did anything i felt good about that he didn't understand or approve of, he'd say "ah, the disorder is making you do that"

he had a quite narrow definition of being normal. one that would make him feel superior to others. you can't please a guy like that unless you submit to him.

and the fucked up part is that this is probably what my mother found attractive about him.

and they both liked my sister more. she was pretty good at sucking up to them while talking shit about them behind their backs. worst kind.

my mother played games too, such as playing the dutiful mother who was always the victim. she wasn't all that affectionate to me.

both of them liked my sister more and didn't have as much respect for me, so they pushed me around more.

you don't realise always how mentally broken your family is until you've been away for them for years and years and have some time to think.
