Wormwood (npub1qyd…879h) People that have brown eyes (not black eyes) actually have blue eyes but they evolved a protection layer in some iris layer over the blue eyes. Even people with blue eyes have that layer but it doesn't have melanin.
Sometimes during a shock like a car accident or a fight you can actually get iris damage and have a partial or total loss of that iris layer.
The technology to laser that layer away does exist but is not used because it's too risky. I don't think people would want to anyway because the naked eye without that layer looks really clear, abnormally so.
