Yeah, if you flood the yerba, you'll get a brew so bitter it'd make a rock pucker up. ;)
I get a full liter or more of brew out of a single gourd.
My process is:
* Pour Yerba into Mate gourd (I use a stainless steel insulated one)
* Cover the top with my hand and shake the yerba while holding the gourd upside-down
* Return the gourd to a nearly-upgright position, and slowly slide my hand off, revealing a sloped yerba
