Fees have been very low, can’t imagine they’ll be less when the world’s whales are all doing settlement on-chain daily / weekly / monthly.

It’ll be cheap for them to bid priority (relative to the size of their tx’s) and if block space is constrained at all that’ll create an increase in cost of priority. Wouldn’t be surprised to see nominal value of tx’s in the hundreds of dollars (in today’s) purchasing power.

Bitcoin’s transaction assurances alone (apex security, finality, no counter-party risk, operational 24/7, global, fast) are worth much more than where they’re at today. And if whales are settling billions of dollars per tx, paying $100 or $200 per tx is nothing. I expect to see fees trend much higher because of these dynamics. I don’t think past performance is an accurate indicator of the future of on-chain fees.
