In the end, we bought the TV we wanted based on spec and price point, *never* connected it to the wifi, and just have it setup with an AppleTV.
They still have to function without connection for the variety of situations they may be used in, and they autodetect the connected input.
It’s a bit disconcerting seeing “AndroidTV” show up as it boots though before selecting the HDMI 😅
