To me the "fairness" of these likely depends strongly on the surface you roll them on.

For example rolling a properly fair die on sponge rubber, on velvet, on a hard wood table, and on glass should all result in the same odds. I remember that some of the old Zochi (sp?) dice with the weird numbers of sides didn't have that characteristic. Like the Zochi d7 didn't give all numbers equally on slippy surfaces.
