Well, marriage as a legal concept don't offer too much. I mean it protects the less economically active part (due to society being unable to reward taking care of children in other ways), it helps with parenting rights, but that's all edge cases, more like insurances if something goes wrong.
As for marriage as a concept of having partner for life it helps to publicly state your intentions, you hopefully have stable home with room to grow with someone who stated the she is dedicated to the same thing. Or at least it should, not everyone is lucky/aware enough to have it that way. Also it helps you cutting distractions, since now you have single person who you can devote to 😇
