The US has done pretty well over the past 30 years by nearly all measurements.
The one area we haven't was government growth and dollar printing press.
We don't have a manufacturing problem. Manufacturing has continued to grow. We manufacture what we are best at manufacturing.
The policies that made the US grow were gold standard, no income tax, and a FAR less oppressive government. We grew despite the tariffs.
Even under those conditions, we faired better if tariffs were lower and worse if tariffs were higher.
