I'm often standing or sitting alone, watching the group, and I've got the opposite of whatever a Bitch Shield is. And I struggle to make eye contact, so I over-compensate and have a really intense eye-lock, if I see someone looking at me.
I complained a couple of times, online, about being solicitated IRL (yes, that still happens, at conferences and etc.) and it was clear from people's responses that they assumed these guys are ugly scrubs.
Rumors of my looking like a crack whore are grossly exagerrated. 😂
