That reminds me, webrings were awesome in Web 1.0. They were pure serendipity, but it was also very topic-centric. E.g. I’m a big Bowie fan and there were some amazing Bowie fan sites in the 90s, and webrings that pointed to many of them. I think fediverse tech can reestablish that kind of magic, where the user is still in control (not algorithms), but there are awesome indie sites being shared.
