"frue" is like Frau in German - this is a married lady
now, keep in mind that a Danish guy write the story. the official word from the horses' mouth had her named as a "missus" and not a "miss"
if she was unmarried, she'd be a "frøken" - like Fraulein in German
if we take this far too literally, the Little Mermaid might have been cheating on her husband...
