Hey uh, I know things are wild right now but as a baseline for the 401k crowd you know you have a choice on what your 401k is invested in and almost all plans have some sort of “stable value” option if you wanna opt out of the ride for a month or a year or a presidency…
This *could* mean you lose out on gains this year! Yep! Totally true.
But you can opt to get back on the ride later.
The people who are saying people generally are bad at picking when the market will go up or down *are right* but perhaps some changes in conditions are severe enough to notice.
To be fair it’s easy for me to say, I stepped out last month. It’s a more difficult question now that we’ve already started the fall. If you think we’re already near the bottom going out now would be a terrible idea.
It’s all guesses. But fwiw doing nothing is a guess too. Just a “safe” one.
I don’t know what to do. I just know what I did. Which is when these people started talking about destroying the American economy I decided they were serious and not to invest in it for a bit.
