"content": "Portuguese poet Nicolau Tolentino de Almeida was born #OTD in 1740.\n\nHe was the foremost Portuguese satirical poet of the 18th century. A good metricator, he composed sonnets, odes, memorials and descriptive and caricatural satires with an ironic and comic tone about the pettiness of customs and traditions, attachment to appearances and everyday vices.
