In the EU, the term "milk" is legally protected and can only be used for animal products like cow, sheep, goat,... milk, milk coming from an udder (Regulation (EU) No. 1308/2013). Plant-based products, such as soy milk, oat milk, rice milk or almond milk are not allowed to use this term, so they get fancy names like "drink" or "no-milk" or "mililk" 😆
However, there are exceptions for traditional names like coconut milk—because apparently, everyone knows coconuts don’t have udders 🤪

For non-food products like scouring milk, sunscreen milk, body milk or almond milk shampoo, the rule doesn’t apply. These products are free to use "milk" because, well, nobody’s going to confuse their cleaning supplies with their breakfast 🤭
