“army ants” aren’t a particular species of ant, or even members of a single genus. “Army ant” refers to species that have developed what is known as “army ant syndrome” (a name I find hilarious, “syndrome” like they are deranged or something) Species with the syndrome live a variation of the eusocial lifestyle favored by ants— they have no stationary nest. They roam their habitats in massive raiding parties eating so many insects that they can’t remain in the same place & find enough food. 1/
