Basically printers optimize how much material you use/save by how thick the walls of the print are (like how many layers of solid material the walls make up), and by how much infill is in the middle (hollow being 0%, solid being 100%). If you lower these parameters you save material, but decrease strength, so you can increase them a bit for the printed dowel to make it stronger",
