Patrick Braxton, the first legally elected mayor of Newbern, AL (established 160 years ago), and, not coincidentally, the first Black mayor, has settled with Haywood "Woody" Stokes III, the former mayor and White Man™ who led the unconstitutional effort to deprive Braxton and his appointed city councilors of access to the city's buildings, bank accounts, and postal box. Stokes inherited the office of mayor from his father, and the minority white population of Newbern (1 hour away from Selma) has been running Newbern like their own personal kingdom since its inception.
