Don’t forget this is also tied in with what we need for climate action. The poorly-insulated detached sprawl that fills many new estates is about as bad for the environment as could be. We need to make cities denser, with many more well-insulated blocks of apartments, and with a wide range of amenities within walking distance. Eddington on the outskirts of Cambridge is a good example of what is possible.
