Social Security and Medicare are sacred cows that need to be unceremoniously slaughtered. I’ve heard so many Macro thinkers talking about DOGE and it’s always the same thing.

Disrespectfully, fuck that. We say what is discretionary. The system is morally and financially bankrupt. It will either collapse in a decade or pay out in depreciated money that is worth almost nothing, if we allow it to play out. There is no “fund” to speak of. The money the boomers paid is has already been spent. The money millennials pay in today is being consumed by boomers today (after the bureaucratic grifters take their massive cut). Demographically it is dead.
No politician dares threaten it today because the boomers still matter as a voting block. Every day they become less important. The winning move in four years is to end those programs and let the free market work out how to pay for Mom and Dad. I can allocate capital better than the government to provide for my family and my community. There will be losers, but frankly they made bad choices and it’s time to pay the bill.
