So I'm glad to say, my ongoing 5 XMR bet with Kanzan (nprofile…7e25) that Trump would pardon or commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht within 100 days of takong office is over, and I have won, and I'm glad. Not just because I won. It's nice to win, to have your worldview validated by reality, to get some money for something you expected to be true. I'm also happy that I made an internet friend along the way, we have had some fun discussions on here.
Primarily, I'm happy that the ongoing injustice against Ross and his family is finally coming to an end, and he can hopefully get back to life and enjoy it.
I don't know what I will do with the money. He said if he won he would donate it to Ross' family, but now that Ross is going to be free, that doesn't make much sense to me. Maybe I'll donate it to some FOSS project or put in a bounty for something I want done. Maybe I'll spend it on a DNM (just kidding of course, but that would be a fitting use for it).
Anyway, good times, fun agreement, worthwhile personal investment in an outcome I had hoped for for a long time.
