Hate you have had a bad experience with lightning and with GetAlby. I think Lightning payments have real potential if Bitcoin is going to be used daily. There are plenty of hurdles left to clear, but see it as the best solution so far.
Just one thing to point out about your situation, you got 1m sats of liquidity for 18k sats fee. If you truly opened a channel for 1m sats, you’d have put up 1m sats. So from a cost standpoint, you’ve chosen the cheapest alternative.
Also I get that your main issue is you didn’t know it was going cost you 18k in sats. Maybe your notes about this will get more clarity in their workflow. If not, it will at least help others to be aware in the future. Have a good day.
