Buffer zones / DMZs are extremely useful for large distances (Ukraine/Russia) but as weapon range increases their usefulness in peacekeeping is reduced. In Israel/Palestine they would make little sense.
Information sharing would be the best guarantee of lasting peace, eventually. Information sharing combined with gradual disarmament is extremely effective at creating trust.
Transparency is even better: if the entire population is aware of the information being shared, if they can see disarmament happening live and information being increasingly shared, they will also gradually increase their trust in a lasting peace and start changing attitudes and behaviour.
