When I got into the office this morning there was an interesting call on my voicemail. It was a gentleman in North Carolina who does “Fly In, Fly Out” maintenance on offshore oil rigs. He was looking for a job. I called him back immediately.
Why did I call him back? Because when people are looking for a job you don’t leave them hanging, that’s why.
We chatted for a bit. I explained that in the name of my company, “FIFO” is a term from software engineering and OT system programming: FIrst In, First Out.
I asked him what he does on the oil rigs. What kind of maintenance? It turns out he does a little bit of everything, from IT support to underwater welding. That raised my eyebrows!
Sorry, Chris, I don’t have a job for you, and I don’t even know who to recommend you to. But I know how tough it is when you’re looking for work, and I know how important it is to get a call back, how much it means just to know what the answer is from any given prospect. All the best to you, buddy. Hang in there.
