https://aider.chat is great and open source. You can use it with OpenRouter to quickly switch between models.
- Claude Sonnet 3.7 writes nice code that sometimes contains bugs and syntax errors.
- Gemini 2.5 writes better code but with too many comments, verbose boilerplate, and over-defensive error handling (codes like a Google staffer).
