Somebody at the job coach from the Indian subcontinent had a very sad lunch yesterday.
The dish being served was meat-based. She'd only been asked if she wanted lunch. Nobody knew the translation of karbonader med løk to English. It's basically a hamburger patty and some browned onions on a piece of bread.
Not knowing what it contained, or possibly not wanting to have meat that isn't halal, she just ate the bread and salad. It didn't look very tasty to me. She sat there quietly for the entire lunch. Everybody spoke Norwegian, which she doesn't understand.
Kind of being there without really getting to participate socially. I know that feeling and it really sucks.
