Testicle masses are hard to manage. Last I checked, the US preventative services task force recommended against routine self testicle exam because of the high false positive rate (due in part to normal anatomy of the epididymis), the difficulty of distinguishing benign from malignant small masses by imaging, and the unfortunate reality that there is no way to biopsy a testicle (with accurate results)…the entire testicle get removed for diagnosis of a mass within it.
