I'm not saying a quantum computer will enable a better currency, or be like a blockchain in any way. The centralization of the quantum computer is irrelevant. Are you familiar with Shor's algorithm? The point is it can potentially calculate a bitcoin private key from a signature quickly, rather than the billions of years it would take a traditional computer. The operator of such a quantum computer could derive private keys from signed bitcoin transactions, and thus steal bitcoin. I'm not saying you should fear it, I'm saying there is a proof of concept, and it may happen eventually.

Bitcoin does not fit my definition of a quantum computer because it does not use specialized hardware to exploit quantum mechanics to perform calculations in parallel, like factoring large numbers, very quickly.
