You're reading into my original comment a harsh tone that wasn't intended. And a misinterpretation that I'll admit was my bad for not making clear the distinction between personal wind/solar and the industries of wind/solar that are placing these contraptions across the planet on a massive scale.
Good on you for your less energy achievements.
What I'm addressing is the false notion that wind/solar will save us and that wind/solar are environmentally and human rights friendly.
The wind/solar industries at scale are equally as harmful to the planet as fossil fuel extraction. Currently, they still add emissions bc it takes fossil fuels for mineral extraction, manufacturing, transport, installation, maintenance and replacement.
And it will be that way for the foreseeable future.
Any talk of wind/solar completely replacing FFs is pipedreams and false promises, usually made by those who are making money off of them.
The environmental destruction for extracting the minerals and building the structures on previously undeveloped lands is adding to our problems instead of fixing any of them.
The mounting waste from discarded ones also adds to the problem.
I'm saying, if ppl who support wind/solar want to be honest, they need to see and understand the down sides of the industry - then weigh their support for wind/solar against their support for the environment and human rights.
