It was limited because neither parent or sibling read fiction. There was Dr. Seuss and Curious George early.
To satisfy my longing, I read encyclopedias (I’m dating myself &, yes, I read them), history books, & Nat’l Geographic books/magazines.
My renaissance began at 15 when I read LOTR. It was like being let out of prison & into a library. It coincided with teachers recommending books & me writing.
